Hasasaka Little Chief,

The Tsi-Akim Maidu tribe requests the honor of your presence at their Tenth Annual Indigenous Peoples Days celebration October 9, 10, 11 & 12, 2009, in Nevada City, California.

As a descendent and survivor of __XXXXXX(ancestor’s name)___ we would like you to join us in honoring XXX(his or her) legacy by participating in a special gathering with other descendents of legendary Indians/indigenous ancestors.  Presently we are inviting descendents of Crazy Horse, Geronimo, Manuelito, Quanah Parker, Richard Oakes, Sitting Buffalo Bull, Red Cloud, Wovoka, Tecumseh, Chief Joseph, Chief Seattle, Chief Winnemucca, and XXXX(Coyote’s ancestor), as well as locals Chief Kelly, Captain Jack and Cheebeelikum.

This historical gathering is planned as follows:

When:  Sunday afternoon, October 11, 2009

Where:  Maidu Active Cultural Center, Nevada City, California

Why:  Strengthen our common bonds with our ancestors, educate each other of our history, and heal through exchanging stories, issues, photos, mementos, songs, prayers, and a round dance.

We are suggesting each descendent be prepared to make a short ten-minute presentation and include:

1. Brief introduction of yourself and your ancestor.

2. Share a story about your ancestor.

3. Bring a message from your ancestor.

4. Explain how you honor this ancestor.

5. Bring photos and mementos of your ancestor to share.
